LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, most pupils should have attained the following objectives –
1. identify necessary skills needed in time of danger.
2. familiar with the security tips during danger.
ENTRY BEHAVIOUR
The pupils know how to avoid some dangers.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of chart showing some of the security tips.

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.
Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
Security is the state of being free from all dangers or harms at home, in the school or anywhere you are. That’s, feeling safe at all time.
Insecurity is when you are not feeling safe or free from dangers. It is also means lack of confidence.
MEANING OF SECURITY ALERT
Security alerts are signal send to inform people of the danger ahead.
NECESSARY SKILLS NEEDED IN TIME OF DANGER
Whenever there are dangers around or we are in danger, the following skills will help us to keep safe –
1. Observe your surrounding.
2. Find out if it is save or not.
3. Find where to hide if there is no way out.
4. Find something to cover yourself.
5. Call for help.
6. Find weapons to fight back.
7. Fight
8. Learn new skills
Note – Number 6 – 8 Not recommended for children at this age. Skip them.
LESSON 2 – MEANING OF SECURITY TIPS
Security tips are ways to keep oneself (yourself) free from any danger.
SECURITY TIPS DURING DANGER
Some of the security tips are –
1. Always lock the doors and gates.
2. Do not open doors for strangers.
3. Always avoid strangers.
4. Always stay at home.
5. Do not go out alone.
6. Know your parents mobile number.
7. Do not tell strangers your parent’s mobile number.
8. Avoid dark places.
9. Get help from security agents.
10. Know your house number and address.
11. Stay alert alert.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps – he/she,
1. Revises the previous lesson based on the pupil’s related knowledge or experience.
Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in lesson review.
2. Asks pupils, why do people run/stay at home in time of danger.
Pupil’s Activities – State the reasons why people run, stay at home or avoid some places.
3. Listen to the the pupils and uses their responses to the introduce the lesson.
Pupil’s Activities – Listen to the lesson introduction.
4. Discuss the necessary skills needed in time of danger.
Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the class discussion.
5. Demonstrates most of the necessary skills needed in time of danger. Also, guides pupils to practice using the school environment.
Pupil’s Activities – Practice and demonstrate necessary skills needed in time of danger.
6. Leads a discussion on the security tips.
7. Uses the classroom as home, colleagues as strangers and security agents to demonstrate and guides pupils to practice most of the security tips.

8. Summarizes the lesson on the board.
