By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives –

1. explain the meaning of security threats.

2. mention and discuss some of the security threats in their community.

3. identify places of security threats.

4. state ways of combating security threat.

5. discuss some ways of combating security threats.

6. give reasons why we must combat threats to security.

The pupils can differentiate between safety and security.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION

Security threats are dangerous activities that can harm or destroy lives and properties.

Common threats to security are as follows: 1. Rogue, 2. Informant, 3. Employee, 4. Friends and family, 5. Creditor or debtor, 6. Social media, 6. Terrorists, 6. Stranger, 7. Rapist, 8. Kidnapper, 9. Ritualists, 10. Natural disaster, Theft, Bullying, etc.

 

 

COMMON PLACE WITH SECURITY THREATS 

Teacher/Pupil’s Activities – Teacher leads pupils as groups to identify places with threats to security. 

 

 

LESSON 2 – WAYS OF COMBATING THREATS TO SECURITY 

To combat any threats to security in the society, it is the duties and responsibilities of the government and its citizens.

Threats to security are threats to lives and property. Both government and its citizens must swore to combat threat to security.

 

Here are some of the ways to combat security in our society –

1. Report to appropriate authority.

2. Policing places of threats to security.

3. Creating more infrastructure.

4. Creating adequate employment opportunities.

5. Enlightenment

6. Youth empowerment and engagement.

7. Enforcement of law and order.

8. Supporting and empowering local policing, vigilante, security officers, etc. to operate under stipulated law.

9. Appropriate punishment for outlaw and any other offenders.

10. Good security policy, etc.

 

 

REASONS WHY WE MUST COMBAT THREATS TO SECURITY

Why we must combat threats to security?

1. To maintain law and other.

2. To attract new and more investors.

3. To protect lives and properties

4. To make our a world a better place for existing and upcoming generations.

5. For growth and development.

6. For national unity.

7. For peaceful coexistence.

8. For research and development.

9. For peace of mind.

10. For heathy competition.

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. Revises the previous lesson based on the pupil’s related knowledge or understanding.

2. Teacher organizes the pupils in groups depending on the size of the class with appropriate writing materials.

3. Teacher asks pupils as group to define security threats and identity places of threats to security in their communities.

4. Teacher uses the pupils relevant responses to introduce the lesson and leads them to identify and discuss places of threats to security.and state reasons why such places are threats to security.

5. Teacher leads a discussion on how government and its citizens can combat threats to security.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the class discussion and analyze the importance of combating threats to security.

6. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board with appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summarizes of the lesson by responding correctly to most of the lesson evaluation and write as instructed.

 

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
