PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. explain who a foreigner is.

2. discuss advantages and disadvantages of foreigners in our midst.

 

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of map and of the world.

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

WHO IS A FOREIGNER?

foreigner is a citizen of another country. For example, a Ghana or British in Nigeria is called a foreigner, while a Nigerian in Ghana or British is called a foreigner.

 

ADVANTAGES OF FOREIGNERS IN OUR MIDST 

1. To promote development.

Foreigners are in Nigeria to promote the development of the country through working in our industries, e.g. the oil and gas industry.

2. To promote diplomatic relationship.

Some are diplomats representing their countries.

3. To evangelization.

Some of the foreigners are here as priests and pastors, purely on religious ground.

3. To transfer knowledge.

They may be in our educational institutions like colleges and universities as teachers and lecturers. There they share their knowledge with the students.

4. They contribute our growth and development.

5. They contribute to increase our GDP.

 

DISADVANTAGES OF FOREIGNERS IN OUR MIDST 

1. Introduction of harmful culture – gambling, clubbing, indecent dresses, etc.

2. Influencing our culture and traditions.

3. Stir up crisis if not check.

4. Taking over the economy.

5. Lost interest in our value.

6. Enslave the citizens through cheap labor.

7. Sex trade

 

 

PRESENTATION

  • To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Lists and explain some advantages and disadvantages on the board.

3. Asks pupils to enrich the list on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Enrich the list on the board.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson – government policies and programmes.
