By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to:

1. explain the meaning farm crops.

2. state 3 classification of farm crops with examples.

The pupils are required to already know soil and crops.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON 

FARM CROPS 

Farm crops are plants grown and harvested for profit or food.

CLASSIFICATION OF FARM CROPS 

1. Grain/cereal crops – rice, wheat, maize, guinea corn, millets, etc.

2. Legume crops – soybean, pea, peanut, cowpea, etc.

3. Tuber crops – potato, yam, cassava, Irish potato, etc.

4. Fruit and vegetable crops – onion, tomato, okra, pepper, carrot, melon, etc.

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Guides the pupils to identify farm crops by name.

Pupil’s Activities – Identify the name of farm crops.

3. Leads the pupils to explain the meaning of farm crops.
