PREVIOUS LESSON – 

TOPIC – PROBLEMS OF BAD LEADERSHIP 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

  1. identify and state problems created by bad leadership.
  2. list strategies that can be used to check the excesses of political leader.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of Posters showing people demonstrating against bad leadership.

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LEADERSHIP

Leadership is the ability of an individual or a group of individuals to influence and guide followers or other members of an organization.

There are good leaders and bad leaders. The country with good leaders prosper while with bad leaders, the country suffered.

GOOD LEADERSHIP

Good leaderships are some of the leaders of a country that are good.

BAD LEADERSHIP

Bad leaderships are some of the leaders of a country that are bad. If bad people are allowed to rule a country, the citizens of that country will suffer.

PROBLEMS OF BAD LEADERSHIP

A country ruled by bad leaders will have very many problems. Some of such problems include:

  1. Mismanagement of scared resources
  2. Dissatisfaction among follows.
  3. Strike
  4. Demonstration.
  5. Destruction of life and properties.
  6. Poor health due to stress insecurity feelings.
  7. Insecurity feeling
  8. Mismanagement of scare resources.
  9. Ineffective labor force.

HOW TO CHECKING EXCESSES OF LEADERS 

  1. Discussion
  2. Impeachment
  3. Publishing in the dailies his/her bad practices.
  4. Discussion – Sending delegates of very senior leaders in the society to discuss with his/her.
  5. Holding demonstrations to protect his/her activities.
  6. Reducing the leader’s authority.

PRESENTATION

  • To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
  1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
  2. Explains the concept of Good and Bad leadership citing examples from different levels.
  3. Pupil’s Activities – Listen to the teacher and ask question where needed.
  4. Organizes role play. Appoints groups to play the role of segment in examining the strengths and weaknesses of current leadership, market women, workers union, pupils, parents, politician.
  5. Pupil’s Activities – Participate in the play. Debate highlighting the good and bad aspects of current leadership.
  6. Leads pupils to list strategies to used to check the excesses of political leaders.
  7. Pupil’s Activities – Submit a one – page essay in defense of their choice of strategy.
  8. Asks pupils to select one out of the list they prefer and defend their choice in writing.
  9. Pupil’s Activities – List strategies to be used to check the excesses of political leaders.

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
  • Next Lesson – Attitude of Victims of Natural Disaster
