By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives –
1. understand the explain the meaning of neighbour and neighbourhood.
2. identify and describe things they can see in their neighbourhood.
ENTRY BEHAVIOUR
The pupils can identify some of the things they can see in the neighborhood.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of chart showing different things they can see in the neighborhood.
METHOD OF TEACHING
Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.
Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
INTRODUCTION (NEIGHBOUR AND NEIGHBOURHOOD)
MEANING OF NEIGHBOUR
A neighbour is a someone who lives close us. Neighbours are mostly people we live in the house, building or compound.
MEANING OF NEIGHBOURHOOD
A neighbourhood is the place or things around us. It is in the neighborhood we built the house we live. There are many things in our neighborhoods.
It is very important to live a peaceful life with our neighbours in order to be happily with one another.
THINGS IN OUR NEIGHBORHOOD
A neighborhood is the area where people live, in this place you can find several buildings, public places and stores that offer their services for the community such as,
1. Houses
2. Churches and Mosques
3. Markets
4. Hospitals
5. Courts
6. Rivers and oceans
7. Forests and farmland
8. Different engines and machines, etc.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson based on what he/she taught or what the pupils have learned.
2. Teacher displays chart showing different things in different places for the children to identify them.
3. Teacher engages the children to mention some of the place they had seen some of the things.
Children’s Activities – The children remember the places where they had seen some of these things.
4. Teacher uses the chart and the children relevant responses to introduce the lesson and explain the meaning of neighbour and neighbourhood.
Children’s Activities – The children pay attention to the lesson introduction, listen and understand the meaning of neighbour and neighbourhood.
5. Teacher takes the children out of class to identify and describe something the things in the school and its neighbourhood. Note – Don’t take the children out of the school without permission.
Children’s Activities – The children identify and appreciate the things in school and its neighborhood.
6. Teacher summarizes the lesson, asks some questions and gives the children homework.
Children’s Activities – The children participate actively in the summary by responding correctly to the questions and do their homework at home.
CONCLUSION
To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
