LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives – state the qualities of a good family.
LEARNING BEHAVIOURS
The pupils can differentiate between nuclear and extended family.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of pictures and charts showing moral values such as honesty, contentment, obedience, discipline, etc.
METHOD OF TEACHING
Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.
Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
Family is made up of father, mother and their children.
This family is also known as nuclear family.
Other types of family is known as extended family.
There are 2 types of family,
1. Nuclear family
2. Extended family
QUALITIES OF A GOOD FAMILY
Family has qualities.
The qualities of a good FAMILY are what is expected of each family member such as –
1. Honesty
2. Contentment
3. Discipline
4. Obedience
LESSON 2 – QUALITY OF A GOOD FAMILY
1. HONESTY
Honesty means telling the truth at all time.
That’s, the act of being truthful to one another in all things.
2. CONTENTMENT
Contentment means to be happy with what you have, who you are, and where you are.
That’s, to be happy and satisfied with what you have.
3. DISCIPLINE
Discipline is the way of training people to obey rules regulations.
Sometimes, punishment is used to correct disobedience.
4. OBEDIENCE
Obedience is the willingness to the right things.
Other qualities of a good family are as follows:
5. Support one another as a family.
6. Love and caring for other family members.
7. Ensuring the security their family members.
8. Create sense of belonging.
9. Open communication.
10. Making each member of the family to feel important, valued, respected and esteemed.
11. Showing respect towards one another.
LESSON 3 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT (TEST)
As stated in learning performance and lesson evaluation.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions.
2. Teacher organizes pupils in groups or pairs depending on the size of the family and available instructional materials.
3. Teacher asks pupils to state what to do to make their family happy.
Pupil’s Activities – Learners demonstrate how things they do that make their family happy.
4. Teacher listens to the pupils and uses their relevant responses to introduce the lesson.
Pupil’s Activities – Learner pay attention to the lesson introduction to understand the concept of the lessons.
6. Teacher leads a discussion on the qualities of a good family.
Pupil’s Activities – Learners analyze and appreciate the qualities of a good family.
7. Teacher organizes pupils to demonstrate the qualities of a good family.
Pupil’s Activities – Learners play the role of a family by demonstrating the qualities of a good family, e.g. honesty, love, caring, etc.
8. Teacher summarizes the lessons on the board using appropriate lesson evaluation.
Pupil’s Activities – Learners participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding to questions correctly and write as instructed.
CONCLUSION
To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
