TOPIC – ASPECTS IN WHICH ALL RELIGIONS ARE SIMILAR 

 

 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to state the similarities in all religions.

 

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Charts showing church, mosque and shrine.

2. Bible

3. Quran

4. Rosary

5. Tasbih

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION – RELIGION

Religion is the mode of worshipping God. That’s, believing God, having faith in God and worshiping the existence of God. The major religion in Nigeria are Christianity, Islam and Traditional religions.

Our religion are similar but what makes different is the mode of worship, objects, etc.

 

ASPECTS IN WHICH ALL RELIGIONS ARE SIMILAR 

Most religions are similar in so many ways which include the following:

1. All religions believe in existence of God.

2. Many religions fast and pray.

3. All religions teach people to pray.

4. All religions preach love and to love one another.

5. All religions preach and pray for peace.

6. All religions have special places of worship. For examples – Christians worship in church, Muslims worship in mosque. While the African traditional religions worship in shrine or temple.

 

LESSON 2 – REVISION 

LESSON 3 – WEEKLY ASSESSMENT (TEST) 

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson based he/she has taught the pupils or lesson learnt.

2. Teacher organizes the pupils into groups depending on the size of class.

3. Teacher use the meaning and types of religion to introduce the lesson and guides the pupils to identify and discuss the similarities among our religion.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction, identify and discuss the similarities among our religion.

4. Teacher summarizes lessons on the board using appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding correctly to most of the questions and write as instructed.

 

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
