CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON ONE – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Teacher’s Activities – Display basic safety kits for swimming (if available) or chart showing basic safety kits for the pupils to identify and discuss.

Pupil’s response – Identify and discuss familiar safety kits.

Teacher’s remark – Injuries, drownings and deaths can be prevented by using swimming safety kits and following simple safety rules. Give a great great for active participation. Ask the pupils, what is safety rules? Discuss and note the points on the board.

 

SWIMMING SAFETY RULES

Safety rules are sets of instruction of instructions that ensure the safety of the swimmers from injuries, drowning or death.

The following safety rules must be comply with –

1. Don’t swim immediately after meal.

2. Shower

3. Warm up

4. Always obey pool rules.

5. Never swim alone.

6. Wear swimming kits.

7. Walk slowly into the pool and don’t run.

8. Don’t push or jump on others.

9. If you are a learner, always use floating devices.

10. Always use life jackets, if you are at the beach.

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

2. Explains the safety rules in swimming.

3. Discuss safety kits for beginners.
