PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives –

3. state the child’s right law in Lagos State.

The pupils can state their right according to the 2003 Child’s Right Act.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
The law serves many purposes. The most important ones are to establish standards, maintain order, resolve disputes, and protect liberties and rights.
Everyone has place under the law. The unborn, child, youth, adult weather disable or old are all covered by law.
The Child’s Rights are non negotiable and clearly stated according to the Section 29(4) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (FRN) the law guarantees the rights of all children in Nigeria, providing for the best interest of a child to be of paramount consideration in all actions. It also provides for a child to be given protection and care necessary for his or her wellbeing.
WHO IS A CHILD UNDER THE CHILD’S RIGHT ACT IN NIGERIA?
According to the Section 29(4) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (FRN) defines a child as any person under the age of 18.
It states some specific rights for children which includes the right to survival, name, family life, private life, dignity, recreation, cultural activities, health services, and education.
MEANING OF CHILD’S RIGHT
The Child’s Right is an act that clearly state how a child can be protected.
LESSON 2 – THE CHILD’S RIGHT ACT IN LAGOS STATE
The Lagos State House of Assembly in 2007 enacts as follows:
1. The Paramount interest of a child
2. The Protection and care of a child
3. The Right to survival
4. The Right to name
5. The Freedom of association and peaceful assembly
6. The Freedom of thought, conscience and religion
7. The Right to private, home and family life
8. The Right to freedom of movement
9. The Right to freedom from discrimination
10. The Right to the dignity of the child
11. The Right to leisure, recreation and cultural activities
12. The Right to health services 13. Right to parental care
14. The Right to education
15. The Right of a child in need of special protection measures
16. The Right of the unborn child to protection against harm, etc.

19. The Duty of parents with respect to child responsibilities
20. Prohibition of child marriage

22. Exposure of a child to use of any psychotropic substances

LESSON 3 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT (TEST) – As stated in the performance objectives or weekly assessment.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Teacher organizes the pupils into two or more groups depending on the size of the class.
3. Teacher displays chart showing some of the Child’s Right.
4. Teacher asks the pupils to read, discuss and analyze the importance of Child’s Right Act at home, school and their communities.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils analyze the importance of Child’s Right Act at home, school and their communities.
5. Teacher uses the pupil’s relevant responses to introduce the lesson – Child’s Right Law in Lagos State.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction understand the concept of lesson.
6. Teacher leads a class discussion on a child under child’s right law.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the class discussion.
7. Teacher explains the child’s right law in Lagos State.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils listen to the teacher’s explanation.
8. Teacher summarizes the lessons on the board using appropriate lesson evaluation.
Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summarizes of the lesson by responding to most of the questions and write as instructed.

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
