CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

Personal security is an extra caution taken to ensure your personal safety at all time. Social injustice is a crime and threat to personal security just like rape, robbery and cultism.

 

 

MEANING OF SOCIAL INJUSTICE 

Social justice is a fair relationship between different groups of people in resource distribution, sharing formula and political participation in government. When resources are not evenly distributed among different groups of people, it is called social injustice.

Social injustice is when an individual or a group of people treats other groups unfairly by taking advantages of them or ignoring their rights.

It is a wrongful actions against individuals or certain people within society.

 

IMPORTANCE OF SOCIAL JUSTICE

1. It promotes fairness and equity various groups in the society.

2. It promotes equal opportunities for all.

3. It promotes equal economic, educational and workplace opportunities.

4. It ensures safety and security of individuals and communities.

5. It gives equal access to available resources or social amenities.

6. It promotes equal participate in political participation.

7. It ensures equal access to proper medical care.

8. It is discourage all forms of discrimination.

9. It safeguards people against ageism.

10. It promotes peace and unity.

11. It promotes gender equality.

12. It protests the right of women and children.

 

 

CAUSES OF SOCIAL INJUSTICE 

The causes of social injustice are as follows:

1. Racial discrimination

2. Unfair labour practices

3. Gender-related discrimination

LESSON 2 – EFFECTS (PROBLEMS) AND PREVENTION OF SOCIAL INJUSTICE 

EFFECTS OF SOCIAL INJUSTICE 

The effects of social injustice are as follows:

1. Unemployment, underemployed or joblessness

2. Ill health

3. Inability to access basic amenities such as good school, hospital, electricity, etc.

4. Low standard of living

5. Protest

6. Suicide

7. Vandalization

8. Loneliness

9. Civil unrest

10. Inappropriate sentencing at trial, etc.

 

 

HOW TO FIGHT SOCIAL INJUSTICE 

1. Get enlighten or educate

2. Promote gender equality

3. Ensure equality before the law

5. Eradicate poverty

6. Fight for employment rights

7. Adequate social amenities

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Teacher organizes the pupils into two or more groups depending on the size of the class.

3. Teacher asks the following questions – what is honestly? State the importance of honestly.

4. Teacher challenges the pupils to mention where and when honestly is important.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils where and when important is important. For examples, honestly is important at all times and in all places.

5. Teacher uses the pupil’s relevant responses to introduce the lesson – Social Injustice.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils pay attention to the lesson introduction understand the concept of lesson.

6. Teacher leads a class discussion on the meaning and causes of social injustice.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the class discussion.

7. Teacher guides the pupils to state and discuss how to prevent social injustice in our community.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils suggest possible means of preventing social injustice in their community.

8. Teacher summarizes the lessons on the board using appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – The pupils participate actively in the summarizes of the lesson by responding to most of the questions and write as instructed.
