This lesson builds on that knowledge by teaching pupils the meaning of drawing, the types of drawing, and how to draw different objects.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION

Every day, we see different objects such as trees, flowers, cups, chairs, balls, and houses around us. We can make pictures of these objects by drawing them with a pencil or crayon. Drawing helps us express our ideas, improve our creativity, and appreciate the beauty of our environment.

In this lesson, pupils will learn the meaning of drawing, the different types of drawing, and how to draw simple objects using basic drawing materials.

LESSON 1 – MEANING OF DRAWING

Drawing is the art of making pictures, lines, or shapes on paper or another surface using a pencil, pen, crayon, charcoal, or other drawing materials.

TYPES OF DRAWING

1. Object Drawing – Object drawing is drawing things that we can see around us.

Examples: Cup, ball, bottle, chair, flower.

2. Nature Drawing – Nature drawing is drawing things found in nature.

Examples: Trees, mountains, rivers, flowers, birds.

3. Imaginative Drawing – Imaginative drawing is drawing pictures from one’s imagination or ideas.

Examples: Imaginary houses, cartoon characters, dream places.

4. Memory Drawing – Memory drawing is drawing something from memory without looking at the object.

Examples: Your classroom, your school, your house.

5. Pattern Drawing – Pattern drawing is drawing repeated lines, shapes, or designs to decorate objects.

Examples: Zigzag patterns, circles, squares, and stripes.

LESSON 2 – HOW TO DRAW DIFFERENT OBJECTS

1. Drawing a Ball

  • Draw a circle.
  • Make the circle smooth.
  • Shade one side lightly.

2. Drawing a Flower

  • Draw a small circle.
  • Draw petals around the circle.
  • Draw the stem and leaves.
  • Colour the flower.

3. Drawing a Cup

  • Draw two vertical lines.
  • Join them with curved lines at the top and bottom.
  • Draw the handle.
  • Shade or colour the cup.

4. Drawing a Tree

  • Draw the trunk.
  • Draw large branches.
  • Add leaves around the branches.
  • Colour the tree.

SUMMARY

In this lesson, pupils learned that drawing is the art of making pictures, lines, or shapes on paper using materials such as a pencil, crayon, pen, or charcoal.
