PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. mention types of toilets and bathrooms.

2. explain the importance of taking good care of toilets and bathroom.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can identify and make use of bathrooms and toilets properly.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Brushes (long and short)

2. Brooms(long and short)

6. Detergent

7. Dust pan

8. Disinfectant, etc.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Teacher’s Activities – Asks pupils to state different parts of the home, note their points on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Sitting room, master and guest bedrooms, kitchen, store, etc.

Teacher’s remark – Celebrate the pupils for active responses. Display chart showing bathrooms and toilets for the pupils to identify and describe different types.

 

MEANING OF BATHROOM AND TOILET

A bathroom is a place in the home where we waste our body. That’s, a place where we take our bath.

A toilet is a place in the room where humans get rid of waste (urine and feces) that comes from their bodies.

 

 

In modern home, some houses are built with both bathroom and toilet as a single room while other are built separately.

 

TYPES OF TOILETS AND BATHROOMS 

1. Pit latrine toilet

2. Bucket toilet

3. Water system

 

ASSIGNMENT

Find out the reason for cleaning the bathrooms and toilets.

 

LESSON 2 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES

Teacher’s Activities – Based on the assignment, display chart showing clean and unclean bathrooms and toilets for the pupils to state the difference.

Pupil’s Activities – This bathroom and toilet are cleaned but other are dirty.

Teacher’s remark – Correct. Good job you. Ask the pupils to state the reasons why we should keep out bathrooms and toilets clean. Note the points of discussion on the board.

 

REASONS FOR CLEANING TOILETS AND BATHROOMS 

1. For easy usage.

2. To prevent accidents in the toilet or bathroom.

 

 

3. To prevent the floor from slippery.

4. To prevent germs, insects and diseases.

5. To prevent bad odour.

 

ASSIGNMENT

Find out the different materials used for cleaning the bathrooms and toilets.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Discuss reasons for cleaning toilets and bathrooms.

3. Finds out how many pupils clean toilets and bathrooms in their homes.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the class discussion.

4. Summary the points on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Copy as the teacher writes.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
