CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

Civic Education is a subject that teaches us our duties and responsibilities as members of the community. In civil education, we learn our duties towards the government and our community. We also learn the duties and responsibilities of the government to towards us.

 

The mass media is one of the ways through civic education can be important.

 

MEANING OF MEDIA 

The media is a way of informing and educating the people about the event around the world.

 

TYPES OF MEDIA 

The following are different types of media,

1. Newspapers

2. Radio

3. Television

4. Internet, etc.

 

IMPORTANCE OF MEDIA

The importance of media are as follows:

 

1. It creates awareness.

2. It builds new reality.

3. It develops critical thinking.

4. It contributes to knowledge.

5. It brings the truth to the people.

6. It determines our place in the society and the world at large.

7. It promotes massive change.

 

 

LESSON 2 – WAYS THROUGH CIVIC EDUCATION CAN BE IMPORTANT THROUGH THE MEDIA 

Civic Education is a subject that teaches us our duties and responsibilities as members of the communities and the media play an important roles by creating awareness and updating people about –

4. Entertainment

5.  Culture

6. Civil rights and responsibilities

 

LESSON 3 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT (TEST) 

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

 

2. Teacher organizes the pupils in groups or pairs depending on the size of the class and available instructional materials.

3. Teacher displays charts showing different types of media and the available samples.

4. Teacher lets the pupils identify each of the media and describe them.

Pupil’s Activities – Learners identify and describe different types of mass media.

5. Teacher uses the pupil’s relevant responses to introduce the lesson and lead a discussion on the meaning of media and its importance.

Pupil’s Activities – Learners pay attention to the lesson introduction to participate actively in class discussions.

6. Teacher demonstrates how civic education can be important through media.

Pupil’s Activities – Learners analyze the importance of media in their communities.

 

7. Teacher summarizes the lessons on the board by using appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding correctly to the questions and write as instructed.

 

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
