TOPIC: Introduction to Beads Marking

 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and be able to –

1. explain what beads are;

2. produce beads using – roll paper, straw, seed.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR 

Hand and neck beads, waist bead, Christian and Islam Rosary beads, etc.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON ONE – INTRODUCTION

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities – Divide the pupils into two or more groups with necessary materials for making beads of different colours.

Asks each group describe the uses of the item produced.

 

MEANING OF BEADS MAKING

A bead is a small piece of stone, glass, shell, bone, wood, plastic, decorative object that threaded with other to form a necklace or rosary (Roman Catholic) or misbaha (Muslim) in a variety of shapes and sizes.

 

USE OF BEADS

It is used for:

1. Prayer, devotion and worship e.g. rosary for Roman Catholic and misbaha for Muslim.

2. Decoration.

 

 

3. Fashion (as part of dressing).

4. Culture (as part of traditional wedding, cultural outfit, etc.).

5. Counting lesson (abacus for arithmetic and counting materials for kids).

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities – gets your pupils engaged in bead making. 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Explains the meaning of beads;

Pupil’s Activities – Listen to the teacher.

3. States the uses of beads;

Pupil’s Activities – Discuss the uses of beads.

 

 

4. Names materials for beads making;

Pupil’s Activities – Name materials for beads making.

5. Asks pupils to make beads using stone, rolled paper, straw, seed, bottle, cover etc.;

Pupil’s Activities – Produce beads using rolled paper, straw seed, bottle cover etc.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
  • Next Lesson – Revision, Test and Examination
