PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and be able to –

identify and use the Title Bar, Menu Bar and Tool Bars.

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of –

a functional computer system.

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON ONE -INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities – Guides the pupils type a sentence – my name is Ayomide Michael using some of the features of word processing environment.

 

WORD PROCESSING ENVIRONMENT 

Word processing involves typing, saving, editing and modifying text materials using a word processing application.

Where you perform all these functions is called Word Processing Environment.

 

 

 

Title Bar

Title Bar displays the title of the currently open document and may provide title bar buttons for minimizing, maximizing, closing up of word environment.

 

 

Menu Bar 

Menu bar is the lists of File, Edit, View, Insert, Format, Tools, Table, Window, Help as shown below.

 

Toolbars

Toolbars are located just below the Menu bar. The are two types of toolbars – Standard toolbar and Formating toolbar. Toolbars give shortcuts to menu commands.

Status Bar 

The status bar is the area at the bottom of your word environment that allows you to see the status of your document.

 

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Mentions and identify some uses of the Word Processing Environment;

Pupil’s Activities –  Listen and learn what Word Processing software is and what it is used for.

3. Minimizes and restores document to demonstrate Title, Menu, Status and Tool Bar options;

Pupil’s Activities – Observe the teacher and learn to use the Title, Menu, Status and Tool Bars.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.

Pupils to –

identify and use the Title Bar, Menu Bar and Tool Bars;
