PREVIOUS LESSON – MAINTENANCE OF FACILITIES AND EQUIPMENTS 

TOPIC: PHYSICAL FITNESS COMPONENTS

LEARNING AREA 

1. Meaning of Physical Fitness

2. Maintaining Physical Fitness

 

PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to:

1. explain what physical fitness means.

2. mention activities for maintaining physical fitness.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOR

The pupils are required to already have learned maintenance facilities and equipments.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

1. Video clip

2. Charts

3. Mats

4. Benches

5. Pull up bars

6. Track

8. Stop watch, etc.

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON 

PHYSICAL FITNESS 

Physical fitness is the state of health and well-being of a person. It is the ability to perform a certain sports, occupations and daily activities.

 

ACTIVITIES FOR MAINTAINING PHYSICAL FITNESS 

1. 50 metres shuttle run

2. Carrying of weights

3. Sit up

4. Sergeant jump

5. Press up

6. Broad jump

7. Straight knee toe touch

8. Beam walk

9. Standing on one foot

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Discusses what physical fitness means.

Pupil’s Activities – Discuss the meaning of physical fitness.

3. States some of the activities for maintaining physical fitness.

Pupil’s Activities – List the activities for maintaining physical fitness.

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
