PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. explain what drama is;

2. state different types of drama.

3. perform short drama.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

Television

DVD player

Chart showing short drama.

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON ONE – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities – Organizes a short children’s drama that contain the characteristics of different types of drama for the pupils to act or plays a short children’s drama for them to watch and state the moral lessons.

MEANING (TYPES) OF DRAMA 

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Discussion on the Meaning (Types) of Drama

Drama means to act in a drama.

 

 

TYPES OF DRAMA

1. Comedy 

Comedy drama is a drama that makes you smile, laugh and happy. 

 

2. Tragedy 

Tragedy drama is a sad drama. This drama makes people to cry sometimes.

 

3. Melodrama

Melodrama is an emotional drama. This drama is sometimes fun or sad. 

 

4. Musical drama 

Musical drama is a drama that combines song, dance and act. 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Plays a short drama.

Pupil’s Activities – Watch a drama.

3. Asks pupils questions based on the drama.

Pupil’s Activities – Answer questions.

4. Guides pupils to explain the meaning of drama.

Pupil’s Activities – Explain the meaning of drama.

5. States and explains types of drama.

Pupil’s Activities – State 4 types of drama.

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
