PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. explain what is resources conservation.

2. state the reasons for conserving natural resources.

3. state the ways of conserving natural resources.

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of chart showing different types of natural resources.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

MEANING OF CONSERVATION OF NATURAL RESOURCES 

Conservation is the preservation of things or materials to prevent them from getting destroyed.

It is important that our natural resources are conserve or preserve in order to prevent them from waste or destruction.

 

WHY NATURAL RESOURCES SHOULD BE CONSERVE? 

1. They provide employment.

2. They serve as foreign exchange.

3. They are limited in supply. Unnecessary waste should be avoided.

4. They serve as raw materials for the industries.

5.. They generate income for the people and the government.

6. For economy development.

 

HOW TO ENSURE THAT NATURAL RESOURCES ARE CONSERVED? 

1. Avoid bush burning and felling of trees.

2. Avoid dumpling of refuse inside the rivers.

3. Plant more trees.

4. Prevent erosion.

5. Create game or forest reserve.

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Discuss with pupils the concept of resources conservation.
