CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON ONE – INTRODUCTION

JESUS GUIDES US BY HIS SPIRIT

There are different kinds of spirit but the Spirit of God is different. And it is called Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Jesus and of God the Father. The Holy Spirit is a Spirit Person (not in flesh and blood) that speak, guide and teach us.

EVIDENCE OF THE GUIDANCE OF THE SPIRIT OF JESUS

The choice of Paul and Barnabas – The  Holy Spirit guided the Apostles to choose Paul and Barnabas

Reading – Acts 13 : 1 – 3

Paul’s first missionary journey, which he made in the company of Barnabas.

1 Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul.

2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”

3. So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.

LESSON TWO

The Spirit of Christ leads Paul and Silas to Macedonia

Reading – Acts 16 : 6 – 10

6 Paul and his companions traveled throughout the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been kept by the Holy Spirit from preaching the word in the province of Asia.

7 When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to.

8 So they passed by Mysia and went down to Troas.

9 During the night Paul had a vision of a man of Macedonia standing and begging him, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.”

10 After Paul had seen the vision, we got ready at once to leave for Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.
