PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, most pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

differentiate between traditional and modern communities.

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

5. Drama of different communities

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

Copy as I write or draw as I write. This instruction should be given when you need the pupils to write or draw.

 

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Based on the previous lesson – Meaning of Community | Types of Communities Primary 3 (Basic 3), discuss traditional and modern community.

Teacher’s Activities – Display charts showing traditional and modern communities for the pupils compare and discuss.

Pupil’s Activities – The communities are not the same. One is big and the other is small.

Teacher’s remark – One of the communities represent traditional community while the other present modern community.

 

Copy as I write on the board.

TYPES OF COMMUNITY

A community is a collection of a group of people in a given place.

There are two (2) types of community, namely –

 

 

1. Traditional communities

Traditional communities are small communities of people govern by rules and regulations. These people often speak the same language with common ways of life.

For example, towns and villages.

 

2. Modern communities are big communities of people with different languages and ways of life

For example, school community.

 

LESSON 2 – REVISION AND WEEK LESSON ASSESSMENT 

As stated in performance objectives or lesson evaluation.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Discuss traditional and modern communities.

Pupil’s Activities – Differentiate between modern and traditional communities.

3. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Copy as the teacher writes.

 

CONCLUSION

 

 

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
