PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, most pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. identify different craft items.

2. draw different craft items.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can identify and state different craft items.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of –

1. Sample of some craft items.

2. Pictures and real craft items, pencil, crayons, drawing books and ruler.

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

WRITING INSTRUCTION 

Copy as I write or draw as I write. This instruction should be given when you need the pupils to write or draw.

 

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Teacher’s Activities – Based on previous lessons – Meaning of Craft, Embroidery Crafts , Crafts in the Home, display some of the embroidery craft and craft in the home for the pupils to identify.

Pupil’s Activities – Table cloth, handkerchief, bead, hand fan, etc.

Teacher’s remark – Correct. The following items are craft items that are made by hands. Discuss and write on the board, the meaning of drawing of craft items.

 

MEANING OF DRAWING OF CRAFT ITEMS

Drawing of craft items are visual art on paper using drawing materials and tools.

 

 

It is also known as drawing and painting crafts.

 

EXAMPLES OF DRAWING OF DIFFERENT CRAFT ITEMS

Examples of craft items –

1. Beads

2. Local mats

3. Local clay pots

4. Woven cloths – Aṣọ-òkè, Akwete Cloth, Saki cloth and Parmala cloth.

 

LESSON 2 – DRAWING OF CRAFT ITEMS

Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities – Provides necessary drawing materials and tools, and ask the pupils to draw any of the displayed craft items.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Shows illustrations of craft items and explains.

Pupil’s Activities – Identify different craft items.

3. Groups pupils to draw different craft items.

Pupil’s Activities –

  • Draw different craft items.
  • Apply colour to their drawings.

4. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Copy as the teacher writes.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
