CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION

A leader is expected to guide and help others. However, not every leader is a good leader. A good leader should have qualities that make people trust, respect, and follow them.

For example, a leader who is honest, fair, responsible, caring, and respectful is showing good leadership. A good leader also listens to others, makes wise decisions, and works for the good of everyone.

In this lesson, pupils will learn about the qualities of a good leader, the characteristics of good leaders, and examples of good leaders in the family, school, community, and nation. 

LESSON 1 – MEANING OF A GOOD LEADER

A good leader is a person who guides others, makes good decisions, and works for the good of everyone.

A good leader should care about the people they lead and help them achieve their goals.

QUALITIES OF A GOOD LEADER

A good leader should have the following qualities:

1. Honesty – A good leader tells the truth and does not deceive others.

2. Responsibility – A good leader performs duties properly.

3. Fairness – A good leader treats everyone fairly.

4. Respect – A good leader respects other people.

5. Patience – A good leader listens and remains calm.

6. Hard work – A good leader works hard to achieve good results.

7. Courage – A good leader is brave enough to make good decisions.

8. Kindness – A good leader cares about the needs of others.

9. Trustworthiness – People can depend on a good leader.

10. Good communication – A good leader listens and communicates clearly.

11. Self-discipline – A good leader controls their behaviour and follows rules.

12. Cooperation – A good leader works well with others.
