By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –
demonstrate the existence of air.
Air inside a ball or balloon
The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:
1. Electric fan
2. Hand fan
3. Straw and water
METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.
Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON ONE – INTRODUCTION
Teacher’s/Pupil’s Activities – Asks the pupils to –
Teacher’s Questions – What did you breathe in? What did you breathe out?
Pupil’s expected answer – AIR
We breathe in and out air.
Put on the electric fan and asks pupils, the fan blow ___________?
What other thing can be used to blow air?
Pupil’s expected answers – fan blown air, we can used hand fan and our mouth to blow air.
Air is around.
We breathe in air (oxygen) and breathe out air (carbo dioxide).
All living things need air. The human, animals and plants would die without air.
Note – don’t ask the pupils to close their noses.
LESSON TWO – EXISTENCE OF AIR
Air exists because we breathe it everyday and its necessary for most things living on this earth.
MEANING OF AIR
Air is the the mixture of gases that surround us.
The gases are invisible, odorless and tasteless.
When air is motion, it is called wind.
Wind is air in motion.
Find out 5 objects that contain air.
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Demonstrates the existence of air.
Pupil’s Activities – Follow teacher’s instructions to prove the existence of air.
- To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
Pupils to answer all the questions.
