LEARNING OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives –

1. say what is technology.

2. state the benefits of technology.

3. describe how things are done before and now.

 

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can identify and differentiate between grinding stone and blender.

 

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of sample or drawing and pictures of technological products.

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING 

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

Technology is the use of knowledge to create new devices or tools.

Technology has made people’s lives and work easier.

For Examples,

 

1. Television

2. Radio

3. Fan

4. Gas cooker or kerosene stove

5. Fridge

6. Bulbs

7. Padlock, etc.

 

BENEFITS OF TECHNOLOGY 

1. Television, it is used for viewing and listening to programs.

2. Radio, it is used for listening to news and other programs.

3. Fan, it is used for cooling, etc.

 

4. Motor, it is used for the movement of people and goods from one place to another.

5. Telephone, it is used for making/sending and receiving calls/sms.

6. Gas cooker, it is used for cooking.

 

 

LESSON 2 – HOW THINGS ARE DONE BEFORE AND NOW 

Teacher organizes pupils in groups or pairs depending on the size of the class to discuss how things are done before and now.

For example – how people move from one place to another, communicate, cook, farm, making fire, preserve food, grind paper, etc.

 

 

LESSON 3 – REVISION AND WEEK LESSON ASSESSMENT 

As stated in performance objectives or lesson evaluation. 

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Teacher organizes pupils in groups or pairs depending on the size of the size of the class.

 

3. Teacher displays sample or chart showing the products of technology.

Pupil’s Activities – Identify and state the benefits of each product of technology.

4. Teacher uses the products of technology to introduce the lesson and leads a discussion on the meaning and benefits of technology.

Pupil’s Activities – Analyze the importance of technology in their communities.

5. Teacher guides pupils to identify and discuss how things are done before and now.

Pupil’s Activities – Discuss how things are done before and now.

6. Teacher summarizes the lessons on the board with appropriate lesson evaluation.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the summary of the lessons by responding to the questions and writes as instructed.

 

 

CONCLUSION

  • To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
