TOPIC: Why we study Civic Education
Civic Education helps us to understand our societal values, and practise them, in order to have a better society.
PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to state reasons why we study Civic Education.
ENTRY BEHAVIOR
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of posters, pictures and video clips.
METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.
Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
INTRODUCTION
Civic Education helps us to understand our societal values, and practise them, in order to have a better society.
WHY WE STUDY CIVIC EDUCATION
- For public awareness
- To understand the values of our society such as honesty, cooperation, self reliance, unity, tolerance, love, peace, humility.
- To equip young people to become leaders in future.
- To equip us to serve our country.
- To have attitude of respect, obedience to rulers, traffic signs, etc.
PRESENTATION
- To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Leads the pupils to state why we study Civic Education.
Pupil’s Activities – Note down why we study Civic Education.
CONCLUSION
- To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson – importance of Civic Education.
