WEEK 1 – REVISION OF FIRST TERM WORK AND WELCOME BACK TEST

1. INTRODUCTION TO LIFE DRAWING

Life drawing is drawing objects, people, animals, or plants as they appear in real life. Foe examples: Drawing a standing pupil, Drawing a tree or flower, Drawing a chair or table

 

IMPORTANCE

1. It helps pupils observe carefully.

2. It improves drawing skills.

3. It makes drawings look realistic.

 

2. RHYTHMIC PATTERNS

Rhythmic patterns are repeated movements or sounds arranged in an orderly way.

 

TYPES OF RHYTHM 

1. Regular rhythm – same movement or sound repeated

2. Irregular rhythm – movements are not equal

3. Alternating rhythm – two movements take turns

4. Progressive rhythm – movement gradually changes

 

3. THEATRICAL ELEMENTS AND PERSONNEL

THEATRICAL ELEMENTS – These are parts that make a drama or play complete: Actors, Stage, Costumes, Lighting, Sound, Script

 

THEATRICAL PERSONNEL – People who work in drama: Director, Actors, Stage manager, Costume designer, Lighting technician

 

4. ELEMENTS OF PLAY PRODUCTION

These are requirements for staging a play: Script, Actors, Stage, Costumes, Props, Music and lighting

 

5. PEOPLE INVOLVED IN PLAY PRODUCTION

Playwright – writes the play

Director – controls the play

Actors/Actresses – perform roles

Stage manager – arranges the stage

Costume designer – provides costumes

 

6. FORMS OF DANCE IN NIGERIA

Traditional dance – e.g. cultural festival dances

Modern dance – hip-hop, contemporary dance

Creative dance – free movement

Social dance – danced at ceremonies

 

DEMONSTRATION – Teachers or pupils show dance steps using body movements, clapping, or music.

 

7. IMAGINATIVE AND CREATIVE DRAWING 

Imaginative drawing is drawing from the mind or ideas. Creative drawing shows originality and new ideas. For examples: Drawing a dream scene, Drawing an invented animal, Drawing a future city

 

8. CHORAL SINGING

Choral singing is singing together in a group under a leader.

 

Classification of Choral Singing

Unison singing – everyone sings the same part

Part singing – different voice parts

Solo singing

10. CASTING AND REHEARSALS

Casting – Casting is the selection of actors for different roles.

Rehearsal – Rehearsal is practice before the final performance.
