ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils have learned how to write simple sentences and describe familiar experiences. In this lesson, they will use those skills to write a descriptive composition about a journey by bus.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION

A JOURNEY BY BUS 

A journey by bus is an experience of travelling from one place to another in a bus. During the journey, passengers may see towns, villages, markets, rivers, and other interesting places.

DESCRIPTIVE COMPOSITION

Last holiday, I travelled with my parents by bus to visit my grandparents. We arrived at the bus park early in the morning. Many buses and passengers were at the park.

When the bus was full, the driver started the journey. As we travelled, I saw many houses, farms, rivers, and markets. The journey was enjoyable because the road was smooth.

After several hours, we arrived safely at our destination. I was happy to see my grandparents. It was an interesting and memorable journey.

IMPORTANT POINTS IN THE COMPOSITION: A JOURNEY BY BUS

Preparation for the Journey – Getting ready to travel and going to the bus park.

At the Bus Park – Seeing buses, passengers, drivers, and conductors.

Beginning of the Journey – The bus sets off after passengers have boarded.

Things Seen on the Way – Houses, farms, markets, rivers, bridges, trees, and other vehicles.

Experience During the Journey – Comfort of the bus, condition of the road, and activities of passengers.

Arrival at the Destination – Reaching the intended place safely.

Feelings About the Journey – Happiness, excitement, enjoyment, or lessons learned from the trip.

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. The teacher introduces the lesson by asking pupils whether they have ever travelled by bus and where they travelled to.

Pupils’ Activities: The pupils share their experiences of travelling by bus.

2. The teacher explains the meaning of a descriptive composition and states that it is a piece of writing that describes a person, place, object, or event in detail.

Pupils’ Activities: The pupils listen attentively and ask questions.

3. The teacher presents a sample composition on “A Journey by Bus” and reads it aloud with proper expression.

Pupils’ Activities: The pupils listen carefully and follow the reading.

4. The teacher discusses the important points in the composition, such as the place of departure, the journey, what was seen on the way, and the destination.
