LEARNING OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, pupils should be able to:

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR
The pupils already know how to communicate and respond to questions. This lesson builds on that knowledge by teaching them how to engage in meaningful dialogues through talk and response.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
INTRODUCTION
A dialogue is a conversation between two or more people. It involves talking and responding to one another in an orderly manner.
MEANING OF TALK AND RESPONSE
Talk and response refers to the exchange of ideas, questions, answers, opinions, or information between people during a conversation.
SAMPLE DIALOGUE
Topic: Preparing for an Examination
Tola: Good morning, Kemi.
Kemi: Good morning, Tola. How are you today?
Tola: I am fine, thank you. Are you preparing for the examination?
Kemi: Yes, I am. I have been studying every day.
Tola: That is good. Which subject do you find most interesting?
Kemi: I enjoy English Studies because I like reading and writing.
Tola: That is wonderful. I prefer Mathematics.
Kemi: Mathematics is interesting too. Have you completed your revision?
Tola: Yes, I have completed most of it.
Kemi: I wish you success in the examination.
Tola: Thank you. I wish you success too.
Kemi: Thank you very much.
FEATURES OF A GOOD DIALOGUE
1. There must be at least two speakers.
2. Questions should receive appropriate responses.
3. Speakers should use polite expressions.
4. Ideas should be clear and meaningful.
5. The conversation should follow a logical order.
IMPORTANCE OF DIALOGUE
1. It improves communication skills.
2. It develops listening and speaking abilities.
3. It promotes good human relationships.
4. It helps people exchange ideas and information.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher engages two pupils in a short conversation before the class and asks the other pupils to observe.
Pupils’ Activities: The pupils listen carefully and identify the speakers and their responses.
2. The teacher explains the meaning of dialogue and the concept of talk and response.
