LEARNING OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives –

1. explain the meaning of availability.

2. state the importance of availability.

3. demonstrate how to show availability.

 

 

LEARNING BEHAVIOUR

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of pupil’s previous knowledge regarding to the presence of security officers such as police, etc.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION 

MEANING OF SECURITY 

Security is the state of being free from all dangers or harms at home, in the school or anywhere you are. That’s, feeling safe at all time.

For example, when you at home with the doors or gate are locked and you feel free, safe and relax.

Insecurity is when you are not feeling safe or free from dangers.

The following are the elements of security – availability, integrity, authenticity confidentiality, protection, etc.

 

MEANING OF AVAILABILITY

Availability means something that is available and ready to use.

 

WAYS TO ENSURE SECURITY AVAILABILITY

1. Paying taxes

2. Supporting the security agencies.

3. When you see something, say something.

4. Be friendly to the security officers.

5. Follow the security tips, etc.

 

 

LESSON 2 – IMPORTANCE OF SECURITY AVAILABILITY

1. It safeguards lives and properties.

2. It ensures peace of mind.

3. It promotes unity among the people in the community.

4. It prevents crimes.

5. It guarantees ease of doing business.

6. It leads to growth and development.

7. It builds trust and confidence among the people.

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Teacher organizes pupils in groups or pairs depending on the size of the class.

3. Teacher guides pupils as groups or pairs to identify and state the importance of having security agents around or in our community.

Pupil’s Activities – Learners participate actively as groups or pairs to itemize the importance of security around them.

4. Teacher listens to the groups or pairs and uses their relevant responses to introduce the lesson – meaning and importance of availability.

Pupil’s Activities – Learners pay attention to the lesson introduction to understand the concept of the lesson.

5. Teacher guides pupils to explain the meaning of availability and demonstrate how to ensuring security availability.
