CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION

God is the Creator of the heavens, the earth and everything in them. He created both living and non-living things and made human beings in His own image and likeness.

When we look around us, we see many wonderful things such as plants, animals, rivers, mountains, the sun, moon and stars. These things remind us of God’s power, wisdom and greatness.

In this lesson, pupils will learn the meaning of creation, things created by God, how God created man, and what it means that man was created in God’s own image.

LESSON 1 – MEANING OF CREATION

Creation is the act of bringing something into existence. God is the Creator of all things because He made the heavens, the earth and everything in them.

The Bible teaches that God created the world and everything in it. God’s creation shows His power, wisdom and greatness.

THINGS CREATED BY GOD

God created many things, including living and non-living things.

All these things are part of God’s creation.

LESSON 2 – THE CREATION OF MAN

God created man on the sixth day of creation. He created human beings as male and female and gave them the responsibility to care for His creation.

According to Genesis 1:26–28, God said that He would make man in His image and likeness. God blessed human beings and gave them responsibility over other creatures.

The creation of man was special because human beings were created in God’s image and likeness.

MAN CREATED IN GOD’S OWN IMAGE

The Bible teaches that God created man in His own image and likeness.

Being created in God’s image does not mean that human beings look exactly like God. It means that human beings have special qualities and abilities that reflect God’s character and enable them to relate with Him and with others.

Being created in God’s image teaches us to:

• Respect human life.

• Love and care for others.

• Do what is right.

• Show kindness and compassion.

• Care for God’s creation.

• Treat everyone with dignity and respect.

LESSON 3 – IMPORTANCE OF GOD’S CREATION

God’s creation is important because it:

1. Shows God’s power and wisdom.

2. Provides what human beings need to live.

3. Helps us appreciate and worship God.

4. Teaches us to care for the environment.

5. Provides food and other useful resources.

6. Reminds us to respect all human beings.

7. Helps us understand the greatness of God.

SUMMARY

Pupils learned that creation is the act of bringing something into existence and that God is the Creator of the heavens, the earth and everything in them. God created living and non-living things such as human beings, animals, plants, the sun, moon, stars, land and water.
