By the end of the lesson, most pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –

1. sort and classify number of objects in a group or collection.

2. identify number of objects in a group or collection.

3. count correctly.

The pupils can read and identify number 1 – 10.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES

Teacher’s Activities – Guide the children to identify the following objects –

Pupil’s Activities – Sweet, torch, trumpet, book, pencil, apple, bulb, basket, scissor, fish and house.

Teacher’s Activities – Mixes the collections and ask the children to sort them according to types.

LESSON 2 – IDENTIFICATION OF NUMBERS 1 – 10

Teacher’s Activities – Use flashcard to facilitate identification of numbers 1 – 10 with the children.

Note – Provide the children with toy numbers 1 – 10 for corresponding to enable them to respond positively.

LESSON THREE – REVISION ON IDENTIFICATION OF NUMBERS

Repeat the activities in Lesson 1 and Lesson 2.

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Leads children to read numbers 1 – 10 with songs and rhymes.

Pupil’s Activities – Read numbers 1 – 10 with songs and rhymes.

3. Uses different materials to facilitate identification of numbers 1 – 10.

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
