CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION

After preparing the soil, the next step in growing plants is planting seeds or seedlings. For plants to grow well, they must be properly cared for. This care is known as nurturing.

Plants are important living things that provide us with food, medicine, oxygen, and materials for shelter. To grow healthy plants, seeds or seedlings must be planted properly in prepared soil.

Planting is the process of putting seeds or seedlings into the soil so that they can grow. After planting, the plants need proper care such as watering, weeding, applying manure, and protecting them from pests and animals.

This care given to plants is called nurturing. Proper nurturing helps plants grow strong, healthy, and productive.

In this lesson, pupils will learn how to plant seeds correctly and the different ways of caring for plants after planting.

LESSON 1 – MEANING OF PLANTING

Planting is the process of putting seeds or seedlings into the soil so that they can grow.

STEPS IN PLANTING

1. Prepare the soil.

2. Make holes in the soil.

3. Place the seeds or seedlings in the holes.

4. Cover the seeds lightly with soil.

5. Water the planted seeds or seedlings.

LESSON 2 – MEANING OF NURTURING PLANTS

Nurturing plants means taking good care of plants to help them grow healthy and strong.

WAYS OF NURTURING PLANTS

1. Watering regularly

2. Removing weeds

3. Applying manure or fertilizer

4. Protecting plants from pests and animals.

5. Providing enough sunlight.

IMPORTANCE OF NURTURING PLANTS

1. It helps plants grow healthy.

2. It increases crop yield.

3. It prevents diseases and pest attacks.

4. It ensures proper growth and development.

5. It produces good quality crops.
