WEEK 5 – TYPES OF HOME CLEANING

MEANING OF HOME CLEANING

Home cleaning is the act of removing dirt, dust, and germs from the house and its surroundings to keep the home neat, safe, and healthy.

 

TYPES OF HOME CLEANING

1. Daily Cleaning – This is cleaning done every day to keep the home tidy. For examples: sweeping floors, washing dishes, cleaning tables.

2. Weekly Cleaning – This is cleaning done once a week. For examples: mopping floors, washing curtains, cleaning windows.

3. Deep Cleaning – This is thorough cleaning done occasionally.  For examples: scrubbing bathrooms, cleaning ceilings, clearing gutters.

 

MATERIALS USED FOR DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE HOME

1. Living Room and Bedrooms – Broom, Mop, Duster or clean cloth, Bucket, Detergent

2. Kitchen – Sponge, Dishwashing soap, Brush, Water, Towel

3. Bathroom and Toilet – Toilet brush, Disinfectant, Bleach, Scrubbing brush, Water

4. Surroundings (Compound) – Broom, Cutlass, Rake, Dustbin, Wheelbarrow

 

HOW TO CLEAN DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE HOME

1. Floor – Remove dirt and objects, Sweep the floor, Mop with water and detergent.

2. Kitchen – Wash plates and utensils with soap, Clean cooking surfaces, Sweep and mop the floor.

3. Bathroom and Toilet – Scrub the toilet with disinfectant, Wash the floor and walls, Rinse with clean water.

4. Living Room – Dust furniture, Sweep and mop the floor, Arrange items neatly.

5. Surroundings – Sweep the compound, Cut grasses, Dispose refuse properly.
