WEEK 8 – TYPES OF KITCHEN
MEANING OF KITCHEN
A kitchen is a special room or place in the home where food is prepared, cooked, and sometimes stored.
TYPES OF KITCHEN
Kitchens can be grouped based on where they are located:
1. Indoor Kitchen – This is a kitchen located inside the house. For example: Modern house kitchen.
2. Outdoor Kitchen – This is a kitchen built outside the main house. For example: Traditional cooking area.
3. Open Kitchen – This is a kitchen that is not separated by walls and opens into the living or dining area.
DIFFERENT TYPES OF KITCHEN ARRANGEMENTS
Kitchen arrangement means how kitchen equipment and furniture are placed.
1. Single-Line Kitchen – All kitchen items are arranged in one straight line.
2. L-Shaped Kitchen – Kitchen units are arranged in the shape of the letter “L”.
3. U-Shaped Kitchen – Kitchen units are arranged in the shape of the letter “U”.
4. Galley Kitchen – Kitchen units are arranged on two opposite walls.
