CONTENT OF THE LESSON
INTRODUCTION
Indirect speech is used to report what someone has said without repeating the exact words. It is also called reported speech.
PASSAGE USING INDIRECT SPEECH
Yesterday, the principal visited our classroom. He told the pupils that hard work leads to success. He advised us to study our books regularly and obey our teachers. Our English teacher also said that reading improves vocabulary and communication skills.
During the lesson, one pupil said that he wanted to become a doctor in the future. Another pupil explained that she enjoyed reading storybooks at home. At the end of the visit, the principal encouraged everyone to remain disciplined and focused in their studies.
EXAMPLES OF INDIRECT SPEECH IN THE PASSAGE

FEATURES OF INDIRECT SPEECH
1. Quotation marks are not used.
2. Reporting verbs such as said, told, advised, and encouraged are used.
3. Pronouns and tense may change.

PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
