ENTRY BEHAVIOUR
Pupils have previously learned about Lagos State emergency services and call numbers, including the FRSC, KAI Brigade, and Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA).
This lesson builds on that knowledge by teaching pupils about LASTMA, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), their duties, and the appropriate emergency/contact channels to use when help is needed.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
INTRODUCTION
Emergencies such as road accidents, serious traffic problems, robbery, violence, kidnapping, and other security threats can happen at any time.
Different government agencies are responsible for handling different types of emergencies. Knowing the right agency to contact can help people receive assistance quickly and safely.
In this lesson, pupils will learn about LASTMA, the Nigeria Police Force, and the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), their primary duties, appropriate emergency/contact channels, and the safety rules for seeking emergency assistance.
LAGOS EMERGENCY SERVICES AND CALL NUMBERS
1. LASTMA
LASTMA means Lagos State Traffic Management Authority. It is responsible for managing traffic and helping to improve road safety in Lagos State.
Emergency/contact line: 122
LASTMA may be contacted for serious traffic-related situations and road emergencies.
2. Nigeria Police Force
The Nigeria Police Force helps to maintain law and order, prevent crime, protect lives and property, and respond to security emergencies.
Police emergency line: 199
The Police should be contacted when there is robbery, violence, kidnapping, threats, or other serious security emergencies.
3. Rapid Response Squad (RRS)
The Rapid Response Squad (RRS) is a specialised unit of the Lagos State Police Command that responds rapidly to security incidents and emergencies.
RRS officers help to respond to situations such as crime, violence, robbery, and other security threats.
For serious emergencies, pupils should use the official Police emergency channels and immediately inform a trusted adult.

SUMMARY
