This lesson builds on that knowledge by teaching pupils the importance of maintaining sports facilities and equipment. Pupils will learn why sports facilities and equipment should be kept clean, safe, and in good condition to prevent accidents, reduce damage, and make them last longer.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

INTRODUCTION

Sports facilities and equipment are valuable resources used for games and physical activities. If they are not properly cared for, they can become damaged, unsafe, or unusable.

In this lesson, pupils will learn the meaning of maintenance, the meaning of sports facilities and equipment, and the reasons why sports facilities and equipment should be properly maintained. They will also learn simple ways to care for them so they last longer and remain safe for everyone.

LESSON 1 – MEANING OF MAINTENANCE

Maintenance is the proper care, cleaning, servicing, and repair of facilities and equipment to keep them safe, clean, and in good working condition.

MEANING OF SPORTS FACILITIES

Sports facilities are the places, structures, or buildings where sports and physical activities are organised and played.
