By the end of the lesson, the children should to,

1. demonstrate the correct sitting position.

2. practice the correct sitting position with their teachers.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON

LESSON 1 – SITTING POSTURE 

Correct Sitting Posture is a sitting position in which we hold our head, neck, back, and spine upright while sitting down. Good sitting posture involved training the body sitting correctly.

Wrong/bad Sitting Posture can lead to neck pain, lower back pain, and even mood changes, headaches, breathing, digestive problems, low self-confidence, and stress.

 

HOW TO SIT CORRECTLY 

1. Sit with your back straight up like number 1.

2. Put your hands on your lap or the table.

3. Keep your feet flat on the floor or a footrest.

4. Keep a small space between your knees and the seat of the chair.

 

LESSON 2 – IMPORTANCE OF GOOD SITTING POSTURE/POSITION

Having the right chair and table setup, correct sitting posture can help children to,

1. feel more comfortable when sitting.

2. reduce back pain.

3. reduce muscle stiffness.

4. focus on tasks and maintain their attention.

5. improve their performance when doing tasks like handwriting.

 

LESSON PRESENTATION

To deliver this lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. Teacher displays showing correct sitting postures or positions.

2. Teacher points to each sitting posture one after the other for the children to identify and describe.

Children’s Activities – The children identity and describe pictures.

3. Teacher uses the sample/chart displayed to introduce lesson and guides the children to sitting correctly.

Children’s Activities – The children pay attention to the lesson introduction and sit as instructed by their teacher.

4. Teacher tells the children the importance of correct sitting posture.

Children’s Activities – The children understand and appreciate important of good sitting posture.

5. Teacher summarizes the lesson, asks the children few questions and gives the children home work.

Children’s Activities – The children pay attention to the summary of the lesson, answer questions and do their homework at home.

 

LESSON EVALUATION/HOMEWORK

1. Look at the picture, identify and describe correct sitting posture.

2. Use the picture to demonstrate sitting posture.
