PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, most of the pupils should have attained the following objectives –

1. explain the meaning of danger.

2. state types of danger.

3. mention some of the ways to prevent danger.

 

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can identify some of the danger within and around and state possible ways of prevent them.

 

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of chart showing common dangers.

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION

Danger is the possibility that something harmful will happen.

People, animals, things or objects can cause harm.

 

 

SOURCES OF SOURCE OF DANGERS 

1. Sleepy floor or wet floor

2. Broken bottles

3. Unwanted materials

4. Uncovered well

5. Strangers

6. Swampy area

7. Busy road

8. Playing with sharp objects

9. Fire

10. Defect electronics or machines, etc.

Note – The above are common sources of dangers for the children. 

 

 

LESSON 2 – TYPES OF DANGER

1. Physical danger

2. Emotional danger

3. Spiritual anger

 

PHYSICAL DANGER

Physical danger is a danger that can cause harm or pain to the body.

Examples of physical danger are sleepy floor, wet floor, electricity, noise, radiation, heat, cold, fire, etc.

 

 

EMOTIONAL DANGER 

Emotional danger is a danger that cause low self-confidence, inability to trust, fear, shame, loneliness, guilt, anger, frustration, confusion, etc.

 

SPIRITUAL DANGER 

Spiritual danger is a danger that is harmful and dangerous to people but not to the physical body or appearance.

 

 

LESSON 3 – HOW TO PREVENT DANGERS? 

HOW TO PREVENT PHYSICAL DANGERS 

1. Be aware of your surroundings.

2. Avoid or stay away from sleepy floor, wet floor, electricity, noise, radiation, heat, cold, fire, etc.

3. Follow safety precautions.

4. Use safety kits and equipments.

 

 

HOW TO PREVENT EMOTIONAL DANGERS 

1. Trust yourself

2. Pay attention to the people around you

3. Be confident and focused no matter what people say or do to you.

4. Beware of strangers.

 

HOW TO PREVENT SPIRITUAL DANGERS 

1. Turn to God and pray.

2. When you pray, have faith.

3. Be spiritual discipline.

4. Think positively.

5. Don’t thinking negatively.

6. Say something positive to yourself rather saying negative thin.

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Displays chart showing some of the things that can cause harm.

3. Lets the pupils examine the chart.

Pupils Activities – Examine and identify the content of the chart.

4. Uses the chart to introduce the lesson and leads a discussion on the meaning of danger.

Pupil’s Activities – Explain the meaning of danger.

5. Guides pupils to identify some of the danger in the school and at home.

Pupil’s Activities – State some of the danger in the school and at home.

 

 

6. Asks pupils to the describe the danger of playing with sharp objects.

Pupil’s Activities – Describe the danger of playing with sharp objects.

7. Uses pupil’s responses to introduce and explain types of danger with a lot of illustrations and examples.

Pupil’s Activities – Pay attention to the lesson introduction to understand types of danger with appropriate examples.

8. Leads a discussion on how to prevent each type of danger with demonstration.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the class discussion by suggesting ways to prevent each types of danger.

9. Summarizes each lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the lesson summary and write as instructed.

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
