PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to –
state the meaning and types of data.
INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS
The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

3. Newspaper/magazine
4. Computer System
5. Charts/Pictures.
METHOD OF TEACHING – Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.
Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON ONE – INTRODUCTION
MEANING OF DATA
Data is raw facts that need to be processed. It is called raw and unorganized facts. It is useless until it is processed and well organized.
TYPES OF DATA
1. Numeric Data
These are mainly numbers such as 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 21, 52, 2019, etc.
2. Alphabetic Data
These are mainly letters A to Z and other words formed these letters, e.g. boy, shoe, umbrella, etc.
3. Alphanumeric Data
Alphanumeric means numbers, alphabets and special characters. Examples are:
- 2019 General Election
- Russia ‘2019’
- 2018/18 Academic Session, etc.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Brings some unprocessed data like puzzle games and plays/shows them to the pupils.
Pupil’s Activities – Observe and play the game.
3. Explains the meaning of data;
Pupil’s Activities – Explain the meaning of data.
4. States the types of data;
Pupil’s Activities – State the types of data
CONCLUSION
- To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
