PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES
By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and be able to name agencies responsible for the enforcement of drug laws.

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of posters, newspaper, documentary, films, and community resources.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON ONE – INTRODUCTION
Drug trafficking is a serious problem in Nigeria. The government has took various steps in the fight with drug barons and trafficking. Some of them are the establishment of agencies that will responsible for enforcing drug laws.
AGENCIES RESPONSIBLE FOR ENFORCING DRUG LAWS
1. NDLEA – National Drug Law Enforcement Agency
2. Nigerian Police Force
3. Customs and Excise
4. Department, Federal and State Ministries of Health
5. NAFDAC – National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control
FUNCTION OF THESE AGENCIES
1. They are charged with eliminating the growing, processing, manufacturing, selling, exporting, and trafficking of hard drugs.
2. They have the mandate to recover all ill-gotten wealth, acquiring from proceeds of illicit drug trade.
3. To protect, enhance and maintain the image of Nigeria and Nigerians both home and abroad.
4. To rest where necessary and hand such drugs abuser over to the police.
LESSON TWO – WEEKLY ASSESSMENTS
As stated in performance objectives or lesson evaluation.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions.
2. Guides pupils to visit nearby police stations and law courts to find out how drug trafficking are caught and persecuted.
Pupil’s Activities – Excursion to the nearest police station, prisons, custom post and airport to see how drug issues are handled.
CONCLUSION
- To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson (revisions).
