The pupils can perform some of the gymnastic floor activities.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
Gymnastics are the physical fitness (or activities) that is used show and develope strength, flexibility, agility, balance and control.
Gymnastics are often done with or without any equipments.
TYPES OF GYMNASTICS ACTIVITIES
There are two basic gymnastics –
1. Gymnastics perform on the floor, normally called floor activities
2. Gymnastics perform with apparatus.
GYMNASTICS – FLOOR ACTIVITIES
Gymnastic activities performed on the floor are –
1. FORWARD ROLL
Forward roll is a floor activities performed by tucking your head down and rolls their body in a forward circle on the floor.
2. BACKWARD ROLL
The backward roll is similar to the forward roll, but in reverse.
3. CARTWHEEL
A cartwheel is a sideways rotary movement of the body.
4. ARAB SPRING

LESSON 2 – PRACTICE AND PERFORM THE FLOOR ACTIVITIES
Demonstrate the following –
1. Forward roll
2. Backward roll
3. Cartwheel
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Displays chart showing some of the floor activities in gymnastics.
3. Lets pupils identify and describe the activities on the chart.
Pupil’s Activities – Identify and describe the activities on the chart.
4. Uses the chart and pupil’s responses to introduce the lesson and explain the meaning and types of of gymnastic activities.
5. Describes and demonstrates the floor activities in gymnastics.
Pupils’ activities – Listen and watch teacher’s demonstrations, practice and perform the floor activities in gymnastics.
6. Supervises the pupil’s activities.
7. Summarizes the lesson on the board.
Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the summary of the lesson and write as instructed.
CONCLUSION
- To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson – basic gymnastic activities with apparatus.
LESSON EVALUATION
Asks pupils to:
1. explain the meaning of gymnastics.
2. list types of gymnastics.
3. mention 5 basic floor activities.
