CONTENT OF THE LESSON
INTRODUCTION (MEANING OF PHYSICAL VIOLENCE)
Violence is the use of force in a way that harms a person. Physical violence is when someone uses their body to hurt another person like beating, kicking, punching, hitting, biting, etc.
TYPES OF PHYSICAL VIOLENCE
1. Beating – using hands or cain to hit/beat someone repeatedly.
2. Kicking – using foot to hit/kick someone.
3. Punching – using hands to hit someone hard.
4. Hitting – using an object hit someone.
5. Bitting – using teet to bit someone.
6. Pinching – using thumb and finger to press someone’s skin tightly.
7. Slapping – using palm of your hand hit someone face.
WAYS OF PREVENTING PHYSICAL VIOLENCE
1. Be kind to one another.
2. Show love to one another.
3. Care for one another.
4. Don’t argue with one another.
5. Be patient with one another.
6. Ask nicely.
7. Be kind with your words.
8. Use five magic words – Please, Excuse me, Sorry, Thank you and Pardon me.
9. Express yourself in words not in action.
10. Be friendly one another.
LESSON PRESENTATION
To deliver this lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. Teacher revises the previous lesson based on what hr/she has taught or what the children have learnt.
2. Teacher displays charts/flashcards showing different types of physical violence such as beating, hitting, slapping, etc.
3. Teacher lets the children study the chart, identify and describe the different types of physical violence.
4. Teacher uses the chart and the children’s relevant responses to introduce the lesson, explain the meaning and types of physical violence.
Children’s Activities – The children pay attention to the lesson introduction, understand the meaning and types of physical violence.
6. Teacher explains some of the ways of preventing physical violence.
Children’s Activities – The children listen attentively and appreciate some of the ways of preventing physical violence mentioned by the teacher.
7. Teacher summarizes the lesson by asking the children questions based on the lesson taught and gives the children work to do at home.
Children’s Activities – The children participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding to the questions and do their homework at home.
