CONTENT OF THE LESSON
INTRODUCTION
Food is what we eat to make us grow, stay strong, and healthy. The food we eat give us energy to play, learn, and grow.
The food that gives us energy to stay strong and active is called body building food.
WHAT ARE THE ENERGY GIVING FOOD?
Energy giving foods are the foods that contain carbohydrates. For examples – yam, rice, rice, etc. Energy giving foods give the body energy to work.
These food give you energy to learn, run, jump, etc. It is good to eat energy giving food with one or more body building food.
EXAMPLES OF ENERGY GIVING FOOD
The food that contains energy and help us to stay active are,
1. Yam
2. Cassava
3. Plantain
4. Bread
5. Rice
6. Maize
7. Sweet potato
8. Flour
8. Guinea corn
9. Millet, etc.
IMPORTANCE OF EATING ENERGY GIVING FOOD
1. Energy giving food give us strength to play and learn.

LESSON PRESENTATION
To deliver this lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. Teacher displays sample/chart showing different energy giving food.
2. Teacher points to the food one after the other for the children to identify and describe the taste of the food.
Children’s Activities – The children identify the food on the chart and describe how they love to eat them.
3. Teacher uses the sample/chart displayed to introduce lesson and explain the meaning and importance of energy giving food with appropriate examples.
Children’s Activities – The children pay attention to the lesson introduction, understand and appreciate the importance of energy giving food.
4. Teacher summarizes the lesson in a very simple sentence, asks the children questions based on the lesson taught and gives the children work to do at home.
