4. name the branches of Art.

The pupils can identify different art works.

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of Illustration of Art Works, Printed materials, Books, Old calendars, Photographs, Charts, Works of Art, Cardboard, Pencil

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.
Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION
Art is a a visual and non visual presentation of feelings (thoughts) or imagination through drawing, painting, music, drama, literature, dance, etc.
MEANING OF ARTS
Art is the ability to create something beautiful for our use.
ORIGIN OF ART
Art originated from the attempt of man to create from his ideas, items he can use to make life easier and comfortable for himself, his family and community.
The origin of art dates back to the old stone – age when early men used their creativity to produce simple farm implements or tools like cutlasses, hoes and spears. These assisted them in their daily activities of hunting and gathering of crops for their families.
The early men started the art of painting when they documented their hunting experiences on the walls of caves. They also made use of colours from soil and plants to create designs and drawings on the walls of their caves.

LESSON 2 – INTRODUCTION

USES OF ART
Art is created serve many purposes, among these are:
1. It is used for communication.
2. It is used for expressing one’s feelings.
3. It is used for decoration and beautification.
4. It is used for commemoration.
5. It is used for keeping records of important events, history and culture.
6. It used used for worship and ritual.
NIGERIAN ART WORKS
1. Weaving

4. Carving

PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Displays sample or chart showing different art design.
3. Lets pupils identify each of the art.
4. Uses the chart to introduce and explain the meaning of art.
