CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY QUESTIONS
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net.
The objectives of the game is to serve the ball to an opponent’s court in such a way that they are unable to return it.
Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team’s court under organized rules.
BASIC SKILLS IN VOLLEYBALL
The skills involved in volleyball are:
1. Serving
2. Passing
3. Volleying
4. Digging
5. Setting up
6. Spiking
7. Blocking
LESSON 2 – BASIC SKILLS IN VOLLEYBALL
1. SERVING
Serving is the act of the putting the ball into play to start the game.
2. PASSING
Passing is the first touch by the team by setting up your opponents.
The purpose of passing to move the ball to a teammate.
It is also called a setter.
3. SETTING
Setting is the overhead pass to put the ball for a spike and score.
It is the second step of passing.
4. VOLLEYING
Volleying means keeping the ball in the air with the two hands (mostly the fingertips) before touching the ground.
5. DIGGING
Digging is the move to prevent the ball from hitting the floor.
It is also used to receive a served ball.
6. VOLLEYBALL SPIKING
Volleyball spiking is a form of attack and offensive move used in volleyball game.
It is the act of jumping and hitting the ball sharply into the opponent’s court by making it difficult for them to return to the ball.
Sometimes, spiking can be outside, middle, and back hits depending on the player.
7. BLOCKING
Blocking is the act of preventing a successful attack of the opponents from scoring a point.
LESSON 3 – PRACTICE AND RELAY COMPETITION
PRACTICE – DEMONSTRATING BASIC SKILLS IN RELAY RACE
Teacher organizes pupils in groups depending on the size of the class, training and guides to run relay races correctly.
RELAY COMPETITION
Teacher organizes pupils in groups for volleyball game.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions:
2. Teacher displays a chart showing volleyball game or play a short video of volleyball game.
3. Teacher organizes pupils in groups or pairs depending on the size of the class.
4. Teacher asks pupils to identify and describe the game.
Pupil’s Activities – Examine the chart or watch the video carefully and describe the volleyball game.
5. Teacher uses the chart or video to introduce the lesson.
Pupil’s Activities – Pay attention to the lesson introduction to understand the concept of the lesson.
6. Teacher leads a discussion on the meaning and basic skills in volleyball game using the chart or video.
Pupil’s Activities – Explain the meaning of volleyball game and state the basic skills in volleyball game.
7. Teacher trains and guides pupils learn how to serve, pass, volleying, etc.
8. Teacher organizes another volleyball match.
Pupil’s Activities – Take active part in the training and volleyball match.
9. Teacher summarizes the lesson on the board with appropriate lesson evaluation.
Pupil’s Activities – Participate actively in the summary of the lesson by responding correctly to the lesson evaluation and write as instructed.
CONCLUSION
To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
