CONTENT OF THE LESSON
LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES
Teacher’s Activities – Display a bucket of water and ask the pupils to state its source.
Pupil’s response – State the source of water within their communities.
Teacher’s remark – Water can be found in different places like tap, well, borehole, etc. Give a great cheer for active and quick response. Discuss the meaning and source of water.

MEANING OF WATER
Water is the liquid that descends from the clouds as rain, forms streams, lakes, and seas.

SOURCE OF WATER SUPPLY IN THE LOCALITY
Water can be found in different places like –
1. Tap
2. Well
3. Rain
4. River
5. Borehole
6. Stream
7. Spring, etc.
LESSON 2 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES
Teacher’s Activities – Collect sample of water from the following source of water – tap, well, rain (if available) and well for the pupils to examine and response to the following –
1. What is colour is the water?
2. Does it have any smell?
3. Is it safe for drinking, cooking, bathing, etc.
Pupil’s response – Active participation and quick response to questions.
Teacher’s remark – Listen and respect their opinions in term of colour (white as their response) and discuss quality of a good water.

MEANING OF WATER QUALITY
Water quality is the degree to which water is clean and safe for drinking, cooking, bathing, swimming, etc.
QUALITIES OF A GOOD WATER
The quality of a good water are –
1. It must be pure.
2. It must be tasteless.
3. It must be colourless.
4. It must be transparent.
5. It must be safe for drinking, cooking, bathing, swimming, etc.
LESSON 3 – LESSON EVALUATION/ASSIGNMENT
As stated in performance objectives or lesson evaluation.
PRESENTATION
To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:
1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;
2. Guides pupils to mention the source of water.
Pupil’s Activities – Name the sources of water.
3. Provides pupils with samples of water of different qualities (clean, dirty, muddy).
Pupil’s Activities – Examine the water sample and discuss.
4. Uses simple activities to guide pupils to identify water that is unfit for drinking (check colour, odour).
Pupil’s Activities – Identify the qualities of water samples.
CONCLUSION
To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
