PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVES 

By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objectives (cognitive, affective and psychomotor) and should be able to identify sources of water in their localities.

 

ENTRY BEHAVIOUR

The pupils can identify different sources of water.

 

INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of chart showing different sources of water.

 

 

METHOD OF TEACHING

Choose a suitable and appropriate methods for the lessons.

Note – Irrespective of choosing methods of teaching, always introduce an activities that will arouse pupil’s interest or lead them to the lessons.

CONTENT OF THE LESSON  

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTORY ACTIVITIES 

Teacher’s Activities – Takes pupils round the school and identify sources of water. At every available source of Water within the school area, ask them basic questions. What is this? What is inside or what comes out from it?

For example, if it is a well, point to it and ask what is this? The response will be, it is a well. What is inside the well? Water.

Pupil’s Activities – This is well. Water. This is  a tap. Water.

Teachers Remarks – Correct. Water is very essential to man, plants and animals. It is one of the basic necessities of life. Well, borehole and tap are the common sources of water including rain.

 

 

Today, we are going to learn other sources of water. Teacher displays chart showing other sources of water not commonly available within or around for description. Note their points on the board.

 

SOURCES OF WATER SUPPLY IN THE LOCALITY 

Water is the liquid that descends from the clouds as rain, forms streams, lakes, and seas.

Water can be found in different places like –

1. Tap

2. Well

3. Rain

4. River

5. Borehole

6. Stream

7. Spring

8. Dams

9. Lakes

10. Ponds

 

LESSON 2 – REVISION AND WEEKLY ASSESSMENT (TEST) 

As stated in the performance objectives and workbook.

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Takes pupils round the school and identify sources of water.

 

 

Pupil’s Activities – Move within the school premises and locate water sources.

3. Leads pupils to mention other sources of water not found in the school compound.

Pupil’s Activities – Mention other sources of water around their homes.

4. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

Pupil’s Activities – Copy as the teacher writes.

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson.
