By the end of the lesson, the pupils should have attained the following objective – mention members of the community.

The teacher will teach the lesson with the aid of:

5. Drama of different communities

CONTENT OF THE LESSON 

LESSON 1 – INTRODUCTION

Community is a collection of a group of people in a given place.

The types of community are tradition, modern and school communities.

 

 

MEMBERS OF COMMUNITIES

Our communities are make up people in our family and our community.

For examples,

1. Father – head of the family.

2. Mother – takes care of the family.

3. Siblings – children in the house.

4. Uncles – members of the family.

5. Aunties – members of the family.

6. Our friends

7. The teachers, doctors, farmers, etc.

8. Community leaders – Baale, Chief, Obi, Emir, etc.

 

 

LESSON 2 – MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY

1. In family 

Father, mother, children, uncles, aunts, cousins, grandparents, etc.

 

2. In community 

There are many families as well as individuals.

There are also leaders like, Oba, Obi, and Emirs who see to the welfare of the community.

We also have such leaders as chairmen of local governments and other government officials. 

 

3. In the school

Head teacher, other teachers, the pupils and other people who help to look after the school, e.g. secretaries, gardeners, cleaners, and cooks.

 

 

PRESENTATION

To deliver the lesson, the teacher adopts the following steps:

1. To introduce the lesson, the teacher revises the previous lesson. Based on this, he/she asks the pupils some questions;

2. Displays chart showing the members of the family, community and school.

3. Guides pupils to identify each of the members.

Pupil’s Activities – Identify and state each of the members of the family, community and school.

4. Uses the chart and pupil’s responses to introduce the lesson and put them together as members that make up of the community.

5. Guides pupils to state members of the community.

Pupil’s Activities – Identity and state members of community.

6. Summarizes the lesson on the board.

Pupils Activities – Participate actively in the summary and write as instructed.

 

 

CONCLUSION

To conclude the lesson for the week, the teacher revises the entire lesson and links it to the following week’s lesson – Rules in the community.
